Mindful Matcha Time

Join us for an intimate introduction to the Japanese “Art of Tea” led by Japan-certified tea practitioner, Rie Maywar. Immerse yourself in an artful matcha tea experience rooted in traditional customs, specially adapted for Charlton, NY!

Matcha tea is often referred to as a superfood, and has a rich culture through Chanoyu (the “Art of Tea”, or “Tea Ceremony”). Rie Maywar invites you to join a peaceful session where you can enjoy a relaxing and mindful matcha experience. The tea tools, tea preparation, and the seasonal design elements—along with delightful sweets—are thoughtfully arranged to foster a sense of harmony within yourself, among your friends, and with the breathtaking beauty of nature.

There are two session times to choose from and each session is between 60 and 90 minutes. 

This special opportunity is part of Main Street Studio’s fall programming featuring regional artists and artisans practicing traditional Japanese craft traditions. We hope you can join us!

About Rie Maywar

The Art of Tea, so called the Tea Ceremony, has played an essential role in Rie Maywar’s life since her teenage years in Japan. Even after relocating from her homeland, she continues to cherish matcha moments with her family and friends. Rie has kept her practice of the Art of Tea alive, and her enthusiasm led her to establish Ways of Matcha, where she shares mindful experiences rooted in the Art of Tea, tailored for our modern living.

Maywar possesses certifications in Chado culture and Matcha from institutions, including the Urasenke School of Tea, the Urasenke Research Center Gallery, and Matcha Happy Life. Based in Rochester, NY, she shares “Joy of Matcha.”
