The Open Studio community

When you join Open Studio sessions, you become part of a community of supportive makers, craftspeople and artists. From total beginners, to working professionals, working across mediums, we’re rediscovering what’s old and inventing what’s new. We are craft nerds. Curious and open, we can’t stop learning and we can’t get enough of exploring the endless possibilities working with raw materials offers. We take play very seriously.

Open Studio – Your time to explore and make

During Open Studio times, you can bring in materials and project ideas that you can work independently on, or collaborate with others. You bring your energy and ideas and others bring theirs!

The collaborations

Amazing things happen when makers make together! Each member possesses their own individual experiences, perspectives, skills, design and materials knowledge. When we share freely, new ideas and processes that would never have happened on their own, spontaneously appear. This is the real treasure for the explorer at heart.

The space to spread out and make a mess

Members take advantage of 4,000 sq ft of well-lit industrial making space, with concrete floors and 14-foot ceilings. In the warm months, we can open our front wall and let the outside in. It’s a perfect place to leave behind the things that always seem to keep us from getting down to work.

Weekly craft demos, workshops and exhibits to inspire you

Delivered by members, regional craft educators, and nationally-known makers at the top of their field. Members always get early access and discounts on all programming. Take part in group projects where you can learn a new skill, or share your interests with others.

Access to traditional and professional tools of the trade

An always expanding selection of hand and power tools for working wood and natural fibers, state-of-the-art ConeArt ceramic kiln, pottery wheels, selection of clays and glazes that are available for purchase and a growing inventory of metal working tools and supplies. A very well-appointed wood turning studio to learn or take your craft to the next level. All tools are available to use once you’ve been certified in their safe use.

Access to raw materials and resources

We stock green and air-dried hardwood, burls, a variety of clay types and large selection of ceramic glazes, sheep and alpaca wool, plant fibers, natural dyes, paints, and more. All available to purchase at generous member-discounted prices. We also accept material donations which will of course be free for members use during Open Studio times! You’ll also find a donation-fed book and hand tool lending library. A virtual hardware store of fasteners and salvaged parts. Oodles of half-finished works and odd doo dads to integrate into what you are making. If you are looking for it, you’ll probably find it.

Open Studio Access & Pricing Options

Open Studio times are only available to current Main Street Studio members. If you are already a Main Street Studio member, thank you! Members may purchase Open Studio sessions either in advance at a discounted rate for yearly, 6 months or seasonal (3 month) unlimited Open Studio sessions. If you are a member and would like to come in for an occasional making session, you can attend as many sessions as you would like for a per session charge and you will receive a bill at the end of each month.

Open Studio Pricing for Main Street Studio Members

One year unlimited Open Studio access (up to 16 hours each week): $840/yr ($16/week) Purchase
Six months unlimited Open Studio access (up to 16 hours each week): $520/6 months ($20/week) Purchase
Seasonal Open Studio access (up to 16 hours each week): $325/3 months ($25/week) Purchase
A la carte Open Studio access (one 4 hour session): $30/visit; Billed at the end of month based on usage
Guest Pass (one 4 hour session, limited studio usage): $25/visit; Billed at the end of month based on usage

Open Studio Schedule

Below are the Open Studio times each week for most weeks. There may be some changes to times due to special programming or holiday schedules. Hours for each week are posted online and sent via the members email at the start of each week.

Wednesdays: 9am - 1pm
Wednesdays: 5pm - 9pm
Thursdays: 5pm - 9pm
Fridays: 9am - 1pm
